I’m Olivia Rose, a fully qualified integrative counsellor and member of the BACP. Being an integrative counsellor means that I tailor my approach to each client, in recognition of the fact we are all unique people with unique needs. This involves drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches, a bit like knowing which tools will help from a toolkit, while staying true to who I am both as a person and a therapist - authentic and compassionate, with a decent sense of humour (well, I think so anyway 😊).
I am a trauma-informed practitioner, having been working with the effects of trauma across different contexts for over a decade. I offer a wholly inclusive practice in which I respect and embrace your full identity, personal values and beliefs.
My work is rooted in helping people untangle the stories they've been told about who they are, or who they should be. Although each person I work with faces distinct challenges, they tend to share a common thread: a desire to break free from limiting narratives and shake the feeling that they are somehow “not quite right”.
So, I work with the groups I specify because I see the profound transformation that can occur when people are supported to move from feeling unseen, unheard, or trapped to empowered and free.
I work with adults and young people aged 14 years + with specialist experience in the LGBTQIA + community, neurodivergent individuals, survivors of parental abuse and neglect and survivors of sexual abuse.
I see our work is a partnership of ‘connecting the dots’ about what might be going on and how to move forward in a way that genuinely feels right for you.
My personal experience of undergoing therapy was life-changing and transformative, as cliché as that may sound. It was the first place that I felt I could be wholly and fully myself, and talking through some very painful experiences the safety of that relationship led me to a shift in my belief system - that we can heal from the inside out if we are offered a space to do so. After many years, this led to my own training and to my practice today, where I seek to offer this to the clients I work with.
I have lived experience and specific training in the areas I specialise in.
For more than a decade I worked in safeguarding and mental health, supporting families while also challenging systems that often underestimate the lasting impact of emotional neglect, abuse and family dysfunction. I focused on pushing for change that recognised the real harm these issues cause both in childhood and adulthood.
Alongside this, I have always been drawn to human psychology and how we relate to one another. I hold a BSc in Psychology and from 2025 will be undertaking a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy.
Alongside my therapy practice I also work as a consultant with charities, education providers and international organisations, helping them develop trauma informed ways of working that are more than a tick box exercise. This means supporting staff and organisations to create safer spaces, build trust with the people they serve and respond to the reality of how trauma affects individuals, families and communities.
