About Me

I hold a very deep belief that everyone deserves a fulfilling, authentic life.

Who I am

First and foremost, I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and member of the BACP.

Being an integrative counsellor means that I tailor my approach to each client, in recognition of the fact we are all unique people with unique needs. This involves drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches that I am trained in, a bit like knowing which tools will help from a toolkit - including a decent sense of humour (well, I think so anyway 😊).

I am a trauma-informed practitioner, and I have been working with the effects of trauma across different contexts for over a decade. I offer a wholly inclusive practice in which I respect and embrace your full identity, personal values and beliefs.

Core training

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Couples Therapy
  • Certificate in Neuro-Affirming Therapy
  • BSc in Psychology
  • Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy (from 2025)

Ongoing Professional Development (CPD)

Topics include:

  • Walk-and-Talk Therapy
  • Single-Session Therapy
  • Group facilitation (therapy contexts) - (in progress)
  • Working therapeutically with shame
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in integrative practice
  • Trauma-informed therapy with survivors
  • Attachment theory and relational dynamics
  • Working affirmatively with identity, sexuality, and gender

It's probably quite key to note that I'm not the kind of therapist who just nods and says “mmm.” I show up to sessions engaged, thoughtful and open, I will be curious about your experiences and ready to explore things with you. I’ll reflect back to you what I’m noticing, offer challenge where it feels like it could be useful and try to help you make links that might not yet be obvious.

I found that by talking through some very painful experiences in the safety of that relationship, I experienced a shift in my belief system. I now believe we can heal from the inside out if we are offered a space to do so.

After many years, this led to my own training and to my practice today, where I seek to offer this to the clients I work with.

My experience of therapy

My personal experience of undergoing therapy was life-changing and transformative, as cliché as that may sound.

I remember it as the first place that I felt - and really knew - I could be wholly and fully myself, without fear of judgement. I found I could bring all the parts of me, even the parts that felt too shameful, and to my surprise once I did so, the sting sort of fell out of them. Actually, many of my experiences were not mine alone, and even the ones that were were not to be ashamed of.

Professional background

I have lived experience and specific training in the areas I specialise in. Prior to training as a therapist, I spent a decade working in safeguarding and mental health, supporting families and challenging systems that underestimated the impact of emotional neglect, abuse and family dysfunction. I have also worked as a Crisis Centre manager.

As I have always been drawn to human psychology and how we relate to one another, my BSc degree is in Psychology and from 2025 i'll be undertaking a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy which will further the therapeutic skills and knowledge that informs my work with clients.

Alongside my therapy practice I also work as a trauma-informed safeguarding consultant with charities, education providers and international organisations. This means supporting staff and organisations to create safer spaces, build trust with the people they serve and respond to the reality of how trauma affects individuals, families and communities.

My Commitment to the Work

I attend my own, regular, personal therapy.

I take an anti-oppressive, intersectional, and reflective approach, which includes a commitment to unlearning bias, understanding systems of harm, and doing what I can to make therapy safer and more accessible for everyone I work with.

I engage in regular clinical supervision with an experienced supervisor to ensure I’m working ethically, thoughtfully, and in your best interests.

I engage with continuous professional development (CPD) that genuinely supports the needs of my clients, with training focused on trauma-informed care, neurodivergence, relational psychotherapy, identity, shame, and power dynamics in the therapy room.
